Special Report: 2010 Spring Festival |

The third day of the spring festival travel peak has seen increasing numbers of passengers travelling across the country. Transportation authorities are taking measures to meet the surging passenger flow.

Forty thousand passengers head to Guangzhou Railway Station by bus each day, adding pressure to the city's system of roads. Local authorities have opened new bus lines to the railway station, and plan to hire volunteers for better service. Similar measures are in place at airports. Companies like China Eastern Airline have added thousands of flights to hot destinations. Shanghai airport has added a security checkpoint to shorten passengers' waiting time. Meanwhile, the railway station in Chengdu has begun selling student tickets with passengers' names on them. Students don't need to worry about scalpers and can easily get their tickets with their ID card and student card.
