The government work report delivered by Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the opening meeting of the National People's Congress (NPC) on March 5 announced a 4.5%-5% growth target for China in 2026. Zhang Weiwei, Dean of China Institute, Fudan University, said, "The target is quite reasonable and pragmatic. It shows a kind of proactive attitude, kind of self-confidence. China probably can do better than 5 percent."
